Former MMA Series heavyweight champion Sergey Dyakonov has shared his expectations for the upcoming showdown between Alexander Volkov and Rizvan Kuniev. Dyakonov believes the more experienced Volkov will take complete control of the fight and cruise to a convincing victory.
According to Dyakonov, Volkov will have the upper hand in every area of the fight, from striking to wrestling and ground work. However, the former MMA Series champion does not expect a finish, instead predicting that Volkov will secure a unanimous decision victory after three rounds.
"It will probably be hell for Kuniev. Volkov will outclass him in every aspect — striking, wrestling, grappling, everything," Dyakonov said.
The all-Russian heavyweight clash is scheduled for Oct. 24 at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Volkov, 37, holds a professional MMA record of 40 wins and 11 losses. The Russian heavyweight remains in pursuit of a UFC title shot, and his upcoming bout against Kuniev represents another important step toward a potential championship opportunity.
