Two-time MMA Series champion Nikita Barkhatov broke down the reasons behind Merab Dvalishvili's loss to Petr Yan at UFC 333.

During a discussion on MMA-TV.COM, Barkhatov pointed to the Georgian fighter's lack of consistency in his approach. According to Barkhatov, Dvalishvili wasted too much energy on movement and ineffective strikes instead of maintaining relentless pressure and consistently pursuing takedowns.

"He goes for a takedown, Yan defends, and that's it. There's no follow-up. Yan deliberately gives up his back because he's very good at defending from that position. Merab has no Plan B. When his wrestling doesn't work, he doesn't seem to know what to do next," Barkhatov explained.
