Andryushko open to trilogy fight with Dyakonov under modified ruleset

MMA Series heavyweight champion Dimitriy Andryushko says he is ready to face Sergey Dyakonov for a third time if the promotion decides to book the trilogy bout.

Speaking on MMA-TV.COM’s “Territory” show, Andryushko praised his potential opponent and made it clear he would have no intention of turning down the fight if it were offered.

“He’s an excellent fighter. He’s won all the titles and accomplished a lot,” Andryushko said. “I don’t really have the right to turn it down, so to speak. If they book the fight and both sides agree, then the fight will happen. There really isn’t much to discuss.”

The champion also addressed the possibility of staging the third meeting under a modified ruleset designed to put a greater emphasis on striking.

“I like that format,” Andryushko said. “I train wrestling and I use it, but in MMA fights I still try to keep the grappling to a minimum. So I’m definitely positive about it. Fighting on the feet is more exciting, I enjoy it more, and it’s also more physically demanding — especially over five rounds.”

Andryushko added that he had prepared to rely more heavily on his wrestling ahead of his most recent appearance, but the way the fight unfolded allowed him to keep the action standing.

“I actually did a lot of wrestling in this camp and was ready to wrestle in the fight, but it ended up being a stand-up battle,” Andryushko said. “Once I defended the takedown, Francimar stopped trying to shoot.”

Andryushko and Dyakonov have already met twice under the MMA Series banner. Dyakonov won their first encounter in December 2024 via third-round TKO after Andryushko suffered an arm injury. Andryushko evened the score in their December 2025 rematch, earning a unanimous decision after five rounds to capture the MMA Series heavyweight championship.
